Lead Your House

Nobody handed us a manual for this.
Joey and I are not pastors. We are not theologians. We are two husbands and dads who have gotten this wrong more times than we can count. And we kept coming back to the same conviction:
The men in our lives needed someone to talk honestly about what it actually looks like to lead a family.
Not the polished version.
Not the guy who has his quiet time at 5am every day, never raises his voice, and always knows the right scripture.
The real version.
The man who is tired.
The man who carries weight at work.
The man who sometimes comes home with nothing left…
…and still has to be the spiritual anchor of his home.
That tension is what led us to build Brotherhood Forged.
And it is what this 7-day devotional is built around.
Because we believe most men want to lead their families well.
They just don’t know where to start… or they feel too disqualified to try.
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15
Joshua didn’t wait until he felt ready.
He made a declaration.
And that is the thing most men are waiting on that never comes:
The feeling of being ready
The confidence
The credentials
The moment when they’ve finally figured it out
That moment isn’t coming.
And waiting for it is costing your family.
What Leadership Really Looks Like
Here’s what we’ve learned… and what we keep having to relearn:
Leadership in the home is not about authority.
It’s not about control.
It’s not about having the loudest voice at the dinner table.
The most powerful thing a man can do for his family is:
Show up consistently
Serve sacrificially
Keep God at the center of how he lives
That’s it.
And it’s harder than it sounds.
Because it requires dying to yourself every single day.
It means:
Going first in humility when you want to be right
Apologizing to your kids when you blew it
Asking your wife how you can love her better… and actually listening
How you treat your wife is the loudest sermon your children will ever hear.
Why We Built This
We built this devotional for the man who knows he should be doing more…
but doesn’t know where to start.
Seven days.
One scripture each day.
A short reflection.
One practical action step.
Nothing complicated.
Nothing that requires an hour of your morning.
Just enough to get you moving.
Because movement matters more than perfection.
A man who is imperfectly present is worth more to his family than a man who is perfectly absent.
7 Days. One House. One Direction.
Day 1 — You Are Already Being Followed (Joshua 24:15)
Day 2 — Strength That Serves (Mark 10:45)
Day 3 — The Prayers They Don’t Know You Pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Day 4 — When You Don’t Feel Qualified (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Day 5 — A Patient Man Builds a Strong Home (Proverbs 14:29)
Day 6 — Your Marriage Is a Witness (Ephesians 5:25)
Day 7 — Build It and They Will Stay (Psalm 127:1)
God Doesn’t Call the Equipped. He Equips the Called.
The lie most men believe is that they have too much baggage to lead spiritually.
Too many failures.
Too much inconsistency.
But the grace of God is not reserved for men who have it together.
It’s given most freely to men who admit they don’t…
and keep showing up anyway.
You don’t have to be a perfect husband to pursue your wife well.
You don’t have to be a perfect father to pray over your kids at night.
You don’t have to have all the answers to set the spiritual temperature of your home.
You just have to go first.
That’s leadership.
That’s what your family needs from you.
Not a perfect man.
A present one.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1
Start there.
Invite God into the blueprints of your home.
Not just on Sunday mornings…
but in the daily rhythms,
the decisions at the dinner table,
and the values you pass down without even knowing it.
Your house is worth leading. Start today.
